Daniel Cook
The California Condor

Park Ranger Daniel Cook is the outreach officer for The US Fish and Wildlife Service; his speciality is the California Condor. From a dwindling population of only 22 wild birds soaring in 1987, to about 500 condors in the world today (over 300 of them in the wild), they are a dramatic story of success and progress. Our condor flock covers 18,000 square miles from SLO down to and across the Topa Topas, up the grapevine to Tejon and the Tehachapis, and beyond following the Sierras north. The USF&WS field team works diligently to monitor them.
